Soft Tissue Laser Treatment
At LaHaye Orthodontics, we use modern technology when it can make orthodontic treatment more efficient, comfortable, or predictable. Our soft tissue laser allows Dr. LaHaye to precisely reshape or remove small amounts of gum tissue when appropriate during orthodontic treatment.
Because the laser is precise and seals tissue as it works, treatment typically involves minimal bleeding and a relatively quick recovery.
Helping Teeth Erupt Into the Right Position
Sometimes a permanent tooth is ready to erupt but remains partially covered by gum tissue. In appropriate cases, the soft tissue laser can gently uncover the tooth so a bracket can be placed and orthodontic treatment can continue without unnecessary delay.
Improving Access to Impacted Teeth
Some teeth do not erupt normally and may require assistance before they can be moved into their proper position. When appropriate, laser treatment can help expose the necessary portion of the tooth so it can be incorporated into orthodontic treatment.
Gingival Recontouring
The gums play an important role in the appearance of your smile. Even after the teeth are properly aligned, excess or uneven gum tissue can sometimes make teeth appear short or the gumline look uneven.
When appropriate, Dr. LaHaye can use the soft tissue laser to carefully reshape the gumline and create a more balanced appearance.
Technology With a Purpose
We don't use technology simply because it's available. We use it when it can improve your orthodontic treatment or your final result.
Soft tissue laser treatment is not necessary for every patient. If Dr. LaHaye believes it would be beneficial during your treatment, we'll explain why it's recommended and what to expect.
