The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7.
That doesn't mean your 7-year-old needs braces. In fact, many children we evaluate don't need treatment yet.
An early evaluation allows Dr. LaHaye to monitor how the permanent teeth and jaws are developing, identify potential problems, and determine the best time to begin treatment—if treatment is needed at all.
When treatment isn't necessary yet, we'll simply continue to monitor your child's growth and development until the timing is right.

The teenage years are often an ideal time for orthodontic treatment because most permanent teeth have erupted while growth and development are still occurring.
